Bring your old log
Import
The short version. Get your spreadsheet onto your iPhone as an Excel file (.xlsx) or a CSV file. In Tallyglass, open Settings › Data & privacy › Import and choose the file. You check what Tallyglass read before anything is added.
If you already have a spreadsheet
You don't need the template. Tallyglass reads any sheet with a column headed Date, plus one of these: Drink, Units or Count. It works out the rest from the headers, so Size, Strength, ABV, Time and Dose columns are picked up too.
One row per drink works. So does one row per day with a units total.
If your log is week by week, with no dates
Logs laid out as Week 1, Week 2… with Day 1 to Day 7 and a number of drinks beside each day work too, like the Options Saves Lives 52-week drink log. Import the .xlsx as it is, all its tabs at once.
Tallyglass asks two things: when Day 1 of Week 1 was, and whether one drink on your sheet means a standard drink (14 g of alcohol) or a UK unit (8 g). A 0 becomes a dry day and a blank day is left out. If you filled in your weekly average from before you started, you can use it as your baseline.
If you're starting from paper or notes
Use the template. Fill it in on a computer. It's quicker than a phone for more than a few weeks. The Google Sheets link makes your own copy in your Drive.

| Column | What goes in it |

| Date | Required. Like 14/03/2025. |
| Time | When you had it, like 19:30. Leave it blank if you don't know. |

| Count | How many. Blank means 1. |
| Units | Instead of Drink, Size and ABV, if you only kept a total. |
| Dose time | Drinks and doses template. When you took it, or yes if you don't know when. |
| Dose mg | Only if it wasn't your usual dose. |
Excel or CSV
An Excel file (.xlsx) works as it is, from Excel, Numbers (File › Export To › Excel) or Google Sheets (File › Download › Microsoft Excel). Or save it as CSV:
Google Sheets
On a computer: File › Download › Comma-separated values. In the Google Sheets app on iPhone: ⋯ › Share & export › Send a copy › CSV, then choose Tallyglass.
Excel
File › Save As, and pick CSV UTF-8.
Numbers
File › Export To › CSV.
Get it onto your iPhone
Save the file somewhere your iPhone can see: iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox. Or email it to yourself.
Then in Tallyglass: Settings › Data & privacy › Import › Choose a file. From an email or the Files app, you can also tap the file and choose Tallyglass.
No file? Select the cells in your spreadsheet, header row included, copy them, and use Paste cells.
What happens next
Tallyglass shows what it read: how many days, drinks, dry days and doses, which columns it used, and any rows it skipped and why. If your dates could be read either way round, it asks which.
Days you've already logged in Tallyglass stay as they are. Drinks without a time are marked ~, so they count in your totals but not in compliance.
Changed your mind? Undo straight after, or later from Settings › Data & privacy › Import. Your file is read on your phone and never sent anywhere.
